Joyful Hearts

On Sunday 23rd March at 3pm there will be a presentation at South West Rocks Country Club of the items purchased from the sale of the 2014 Joyful Hearts Calendar to the 31 charities nominated. All KMDBC members are invited and there will be an afternoon tea provided ...many thanks Cathy T

Tupperware Party

Next Saturday 22nd Feb Janette will be hosting a breakfast Tuppaware Party at Netherby House after paddling. Host gifts to be donated to our club to be used in raffles during the year. Janette will be leaving some catalogues/order forms in the boatshed for those who can't come on Saturday but would like to place an order. Dee has organized a special breakfast menu for us !! Menu will be available on notice board during the week..if you could decide before hand what you would like...even if you just want coffee or tea , it will make it easier.. Looking forward to seeing there .

This Thursday 20th Feb. I will also have paddling videos to view, I suggest that you bring a flash drive, memory card or cd to copy these files for you to view at your leisure.

General Meeting

Is next Thursday 23rd at the bowlo after 5:30 session. All members are welcome to attend.


Please note that 5:30 sessions will be dedicated to CNY paddlers. Vacant seats can only be taken by non-CNY paddlers on the Tuesday or Thursday.

Australian Titles

A meeting will be held this Thursday 9th January after the 5:30 session to discuss the Divisons and races that we will be entering and anything else.

Following from the GM, EOI's are being sought for this event on the Sunshine Coast, Qld April 15-20. This is a no-nonsense regatta and will require a big committment to training commencing Feb 1 and will be in addition to current training regimes. The club is sending the best of the best to contest Masters, Grand Masters and Great Grand Masters in 20s and/or 10s. If you have the slightest doubt, do not put your name on the Regatta page for this event.

Presentation Night

Anna and Terry have kindly offered their homestead- Glendore, 846 Plummers Lane, to host this night of nights. The date has been set for 14th December. Cost approx $10pp, subsidised by the club. For catering put your name on the Regatta page.

This year we will be including a live band - The Syndicators and will be fully catered. All you need to bring is cutley, plate, a glass, chair and drink. Theme for this event is FLORAL. Overnight camping is available, please see Anna to book your spot.

Please note that if your name is on the Regatta page and you do not attend, it will cost you $25.

Attendance to this event will close on December 1st for catering purposes.

Forster Regatta

The Men and Mixed were unbeaten all day with the Women finshing 2nd to the surprising Flamin Dragons. Great effort to all who attended, with "ol mate" trying his best to beat us, by protest, off the water yet again claiming that we had a female in the Men's team - nothing like sportsmanship!

Fashion Parade

The annual fashion parade that is held with K & A, Arcade Shoes and Just Lingerie, is on again on Saturday the 2nd November at 2 p.m, at the Anglican Church Hall. All proceeds go to Home Hospice, and some of our paddlers are the models, fun afternoon for a great cause. For more info, contact Vivian.

This Thursday, 31st Oct at the bowlo after 5:30 session. All members are welcome to attend. Come along and have your say in a public forum rather than on the riverbank!

Grafton Regatta

The Club entered its first distance regatta (7km) and came away with 2nd place - the margin being a boat length. It was a new experience for all paddlers and proved that we are also competitive in this division. The Men and Mixed were unbeaten all day with the Women finshing 2nd to the very strong Tweed Dragons for Qld. The money tin is in good shape for next year thanks to Figjam collecting $290!

Newcastle Regatta

The Rats shone through once more, taking all 3 sprints on Sunday. There were some reservations about the womens div in regards to finals qualification, but guts and determination got the better in a truly awesome display. Great effort to all who attended. We could only manage a 3rd in the 2km in trying conditions but won the boat race back at the pub! The weekend was topped off with a memorable bus trip home. Congrats to all.

Missing Trophy

We are trying to locate a perpetual trophy that was won at Grafton last year. 2 are at Iggys but we must have the 3rd to return to Grafton. Please email me if you know of its whereabouts.

Kundabung Markets

Thanks to Sue and Bernie for organising a stall, bellydancer Phil for helping out and all members who donated items. A total of $435 was raised for the club.

Newcastle Regatta

A bus has been organised, cost is $50pp...includes trip down and back, to hotel and regatta and wherever else we want to go. To get on board, put your name on the Regatta Page. The more names the cheaper the cost. The price of the bus will be subsidised by the club if it exceeds $50pp.

Coffs Regatta

The club enjoyed another successful regatta. The Men had their finest hour to date being undefeated with 9 paddlers, the mixed were also undefeated, while the women came in 2nd with 18 paddlers.... 2 were virgins. Well done to all attended.

As we dont have enough paddlers to contest the 3km, it was decided at the GM to not enter...and there are only 17 paddlers for the womens div.

Saturday 6:30 Session

All paddlers please note that this session is for those paddlers who are entering distance races (Newcastle 1.5 and Grafton 7km) AND will be training regularly throughout the weeks leading up to these regattas. If this session is not full by Thursday it then becomes open to all. There is the 8:00am session for everyone else.

Coffs Regatta

The Tuckers Island race on Saturday is a 3km race and there are only 16 paddlers + drummer + sweep. We need more paddlers or we should think about cancelling.

Stoney Park

Tele Point is August 18th 9:00am. This day is for everyone and will include water trials if weather permits. Include your name on the regatta page and include the suffix (o/n) after your name if you are staying Saturday night - you will need to book it yourself on 6585 0080....Club bbq lunch will be provided.

All 3 at Taree

Another great day for the club. Congrats to all who attended, great to see that everyone hung around for a drink. Well done to Bruce in his first regatta.

Op Shop Ball

The club is pleased to donate $4796 to Camp Quality following the success of its Op Shop Ball. This is approx $1200 more than in 2010. Thanks must go to all people who attended, to all businesses who donated and to all those who made it happen. Job well done!....(_x_)
