Freddo Paddle

Was a corka! with 16 paddlers taking 40mins to paddle to the new macleay river bridge.

General Meeting

at the bowlo after paddling Thursday May 30th. All members welcome.

Urunga Regatta

Excellent result - 1st Womens, Mens and Mixed...2nd in the 2km (bloody caterpillars apparently). Congrats to all who attended.

Teams for Urunga will be finalised this week (ending May 12).

The next regatta is Port which includes an 18km marathon on the Saturday. This will be the club's first and longest race ever attempted. Entries close in 2 weeks, so if you are keen please show it on the Regatta page ASAP so that the team and the club can get organised.

Mother's Day

Mothers Day is fast approaching , & we are once again including Mothers Day prizes with our Smithtown pub raffle . If you could donate a little pressie suitable for Mum it would be greatly appreciated . You can bring it in when you paddle or drop it into Vivian at the shop.

has been purchased and is placed in the Bowlo, with thanks to Bernie who helped move the monster.

Stuarts Pt. Sabbatical

Stuart Point Annual Camping Weekend was another big highlight. There was a first for the club with the dragon boat being used as a fishing vessel with 5 fishos and sweep on board. Total catch was 8 with only 2 keepers!..... Trevor launched the inaugural Coits Championship with Paul taking the title and the big trophy - unlucky to Pam who has to maintain and look at it. (referring to the trophy)

Stuarts Pt. Sabbatical

Stuart Point Annual Camping Weekend is coming up again. The date is Saturday 16th March . Reserved are 4 - En suite Cabins sleeping 5 @$81 per nt .... 2 - Non Ensuite Cabins sleeping 6 @ $66 per nt. and 6 non powered riverfront camp sites @ $26 per nt.

There are also powered sites @ $29 per nt . There's a larger bungalow sleeping 5 @$109 per nt. but minimum of 2 nts.

If you intend going you need to ring & confirm your booking . Ph.65 under Kempsey Dragon Boat Club . If you intend staying 2 nights...Fri / Sat . or Sat / Sun. let them know when you book.

RSL Memberships

are now due. We must support the club that supports us!. Its only $22 for 3 years. Your membership entitles you to discount drinks and other beneifits like a birthday surprise that easily makes your membership worthwhile.

Paddling Sessions

From next Saturday, two G.4 sessions will be available before the social session. You are reminded to either text or email your cancellations if you are unable to attend a session - its called courtesy!

Pub Raffle

Names are required for this year's Smithtown raffle roster. EVERYONE must have a go. Only 3 times a year and an hour each time on a Saturday Arvo. Funds from the raffle subsidise club activities.

General Meeting

Is at the Bowlo, Thursday Feb 7th after paddling. All members are invited to attend.

Water Trials

commence next Sunday 10th for Group A paddlers ONLY. If you havent been notified by email, you are not in Group A.

Birthday Party...again

Next Sunday10th an afternoon Tea Party starting at 2pm at 627 Temagog rd for Pam's birthday. Bring a plate to share- we will have Tea, coffee non-alcoholic punch(bring the alcohol) if you want some in it....and swimmers if you want to sit in the creek!

Australian Titles

Names are wanted to enter in 10's teams for Masters and Grand Masters divisions 16th and 17th April.

Spray Jackets

Are now available in purple at Camping World for the special price of $40.

Christmas Party & Presso Night

Will be at Maria Potter's abode- 5 Fraser Close Dondingalong. Commencing about 17:00, December 15th, $10p/p, dress is International. Camping sites available. ALL members and friends are welcome. Pan Pacs

Well done to all who entered. Everyone had a great weekend and came away with a few well earned medals - yet again.

Fashion Parade

Not only are we champion paddlers, but we also have some fashion models in our club. This Saturday 3rd Nov, 14:00 , Just Lingerie, K&A Boutique and Arcade Shoes will host a charity fashion parade at the Anglican Church hall. All proceeds will go to Macleay Valley Home Hospice. So come along for an enjoyable afternoon.

Open Day

For SWR dragon Boat club is this Sunday 4th, 9:00 - 13:00, probably at or near the Riverside Tavern. Please go along and support our neighbours!


As per GM, it was decided to cancel entry into the Australian Titles due to lack of interest. Also a new regatta has been added - Falls Creek, more info later but names are now being requested as this requires bus hire, accommodation and a week off work.

Is this Tuesday 19:00 after paddling to discuss our regatta, progress and volunteers.

Grafton Regatta

Was a great success, winning all 3 Divisions and the 2km. Great effort and well done to all who paddled. Special "hi there, big boy" to the topless bar person.

Club BBQ

Saturday morning, October 13th, Riverside Park.


I am STILL weighting for 21 people to give me their details. You will jeopodise your chances of a regatta placement unless I have this info!


Is on again in Port October 21st. If you are interested, a flyer will be on the notice board. Its river racing at Westport in teams of 5. Cost is $30. Just get together 5 people (they dont have to be dragon boaters), fill out the entry form and turn up. The outrigginging club provides the paddles and steerer. A team of mixed from our club went last year.

Australian Championships

Happens next year in April at Penrith, To give you an indication of what they are all about click here and read the info bulletin for this year in Melbourne. An interesting part is that if you can finish in the top 3 of your division, the team will qualify for the World Championships!. Club racing will be from April 15th to 20th.

Will be next Thursday - Oct 11 at the bowlo after paddling. BBQ sangas will be provided. ALL members are welcome.

Wednesday arvo sessions have now been included. These sessions are not part of our training program. We are trying to determine which time slot is the more popular, so please patronise.

Forster Regatta

Is Nov 24 and 25. The plan is same as Grafton - bus, island paddle, o/night stay, sprint paddle, home Sunday arvo. Accommodation is booked - click here to view. However, the accommodation will be held until Friday 28th Sept and will be about $30p/p. Please note: Alternate accommodation is click here but at this stage is not booked - this is a tad dearer and all can be done online.

I must know by Friday 28th Sept or earlier of your intentions via the Regatta Page, so that the bus and accommodation can be confirmed.

ID Cards

are now available at paddling sessions. Please take yours and sign for it on the sheet provided. You must have one to compete in any regatta!

Mylestom Regatta

We had 30 paddlers compete at this regatta and given the short time that we have been training, the teams produced marvellous results - 1st in Womens and 2nd in Mixed. Congrats to all competitors, particularly to the 4 members who came of age in their first regatta.

Gold Medal

We have a paddler in the club - Sue Hill, whose partner Bob has just won a gold medal at the world champs in hockey. It just goes to show that you are never too old to achieve. Good onya Bob, have drink on us!


Looks like we can now enter 2 teams at Myelstom, womens and mixed - provided no-one pulls out. If anyone else wants to come along please put your name down. And supporters are always welcome.

Technique Session

Is this Saturday August 25th from 8:00am. This is a must for new members and anyone else who wants a few tips and/or needs correction.

Come & Try Day

Is this Sunday August 12th from 10 to 12. The club needs a few volunteers to help out, please put your name on the Sessions Page.

Christmas in July

Welcome back..thanks...First social event of the new season is Christmas in July at Lisa's Fairway Motel on the hwy South Kempsey on July 28th at 6:00pm. Cost is $10pp, for catering purposes please put your name down on the Regatta Page. If you wish to stay overnight cost is $60-$80/room - email Lisa for accommodation.

Membership Renewals

Its that time of year and membership renewals are now due. Although DBNSW has again increased their fees, our club will again absorb the increase and cap the fee at $130 (thanks to our fund raising activities throughout the year) Please download, print and include payment and BOTH forms (via the FORMS link above) and bring ALL along next time you paddle. Renewals recd before the end of July will receive 5 FREE paddling sessions. Do not process your renewals online.

Pub Raffles

Names are needed to be put onto the Smithtown Raffle Roster. These raffles are every Saturday between 4pm and 5pm. All members are required to help out and lighten the load. These raffles help to subsidise all club events.
